The Greek Myths are reborn, reincarnated into the modern world and
bound to set chaos on mind-shattering levels. The Gods and Goddesses, the Titans
and even the beasts of old have reawoken in the modern age and only time will
prove that this will not be a good thing.
Iris sat on a park bench in the center of the Berkeley campus. She was waiting but she wasn't sure what for. Her daughter was safe. She knew that much. Most likely she was in one of her classes and far away from any danger. What was with that anyway? Iris began to wonder why she was so protective of her daughter. Was it because of him? She shock her head not wanting to remember that time in her life but couldn't help but to travel right back to that night. She loved him and thought that they would be starting a life together. Mason seemed to care more about his reputation than anything. He never cared for her. Only her brilliance. He probably had been in love with the idea of her.
"Mason please..."she pleaded. She watched as he paced back and forth in the apartment. She knew this wasn't a good sign at all. "You have to get rid of it." he turned to her with a livid expression. "It?! Excuse me. This is a child we are talking about. You said yourself you wanted to start a family with me! Sure, this is a little unexpected but we can manage. We have our love to hold us together, don't we?" Mason looked back at the wall and her stomach dropped. She didn't like his expression at all. He looked like a different person and this scared her. "You have to have go through with it. I'm not going to let a child ruin our relationship and our chances at a good life together." Iris placed a hand on her stomach as she took in those words. She could have sworn she could make out the small bump. "Is that what it's going to take?" Her voice was getting weak. She loved him. She was willing to give up her dream. She didn't want to lose him. Maybe he was scared because they were still young. "Yes." he said looking at her. His eyes softened. She believed him in that moment and even though he pulled her into a hug as tears began to stream down her eyes she couldn't help but shake the feeling of disappear from herself. After all was said and done Iris went into a deep depression. Three months later Mason left her. She was lucky that something in her managed to pull herself out of it all. There seemed to be something that pushed her to keep going.
After she graduated from medical school and started her work as an obgyn she decided that without the help from any man, she would adopt. She knew she was still fairly young but she was determined to give an older child a good home. When she saw Rosalia something seemed to click. It felt as if she was already her child even before she signed the adoption papers. She smiled as she thought of Rosalia. She had helped her grow and learn to love again. Those she was bitter towards always every man that crossed both her and her daughter's past. She at least had one light in her life. She was thankful for this. Demeter stirred inside her mortal host. There was a constant tugging and Iris could feel it. She couldn't understand what it was or why she felt so strange. She was starting to question herself.
