personality:

Marissa is very strong willed, with a level head on her shoulders. By level I mean she has common sense of course. That's about as level as it seems to get for her, though. She is smart and able to think quickly on her feet, able to make decisions in split seconds when it is called for. She usually is able to come up with rather intricate and detailed plans and strategies without really putting much thought into them. Something that she takes great pride in. After all, to survive on the streets, you need to be able to think on your feet quite well. She's extremely confident in her abilites, almost to the point of annoying arrogance. She thinks that she's usually right and nothing else can change that. She's a better fighter than most of the other people with ideas anyway, so why would it matter if, on the rare occasion, she did end up being wrong? She tries to work on anger management, even if it's a little hard at times. She often has to find something to fiddle with in her hands or think of verbal abuses she could throw instead of fists. She's pretty good about finding something to center herself with now, though. Okay, maybe not pretty good, but she's slowly getting better. She's not much to bully and would do anything for someone she views as a real friend. Rissa is one of the most loyal women you will ever meet. If she thinks you worthy of her trust, she will do anything to keep you safe. True, she may have her violent episodes, but she is still a great friend. She tries to stay as peaceful as possible, though that doesn't always work out. She is, above all else, a very strong willed women and rather good at taking the lead when she needs to. Actually, she usually likes being in charge of things. Makes her feel special. She was a thief by nature, and will probably always have the heart of a thief inside her, enjoying the thrill of sneaking and taking things that don't belong to her. It's almost as good as getting into a fight on the streets. Anything that can make her adreneline start pumping is good, really.

Marissa's life started off in inner city Baltimore. From a poor family, she never really knew what it was like to grow up with nice or fancy things. She was always just this thing that her parents could kick around and give paper bags to as if those were suitable replacements for toys. He parents hadn't been the best of people, often taking things out on her. And she didn't get much of the proper schooling she should have had, so whatever she learned, she learned from people she would run to when she didn't want to see her parents fight. Growing up around violence had made her into something of a violent person. And her life only got more violent and hectic when she was about twelve. Her parents lost their home and most of the people she had gone to before had moved away. So, she spent more and more time on the streets, doing everything she could to get money. From stealing it to entering herself into small fighting competitions that were held within the city, she was always trying to find more ways to get money so she could get out of the city. She wanted to find a way to get her own place and live somewhere outside the chaos that had been her life. But the longer she took, the more she got into it. She liked the adrenaline, the thrill. Nothing could stop her, it seemed. And so she kept up the life. She was able to keep clean and well clothed with the money she either stole or was won. She would also sing in the streets to earn money, which often seemed to help. Her life was pretty much just that. Learning what she could, being taught from the ones that took pity on her. She didn't much pay attention to her parents after she got onto the streets. She travelled around anywhere she knew they wouldn't go and took care of her self.

About a year ago, though, she got visted by a strange man while she was walking through one of the alley's she frequanted. It had been rather odd, the man dressed in what seemed like ancient battle gear. He had addressed himself as Ares and she could barely believe it when he told her that she was his daughter, or rather the reincarnation of one of his daughters. The two were one in the same, really. She thought he was just another looney at first but, the more they talked, the more she began to believe it. She wanted to find this father of hers but she knew it could wait. She soon found out about the Academy and, without much word to her parents, she went out. she didn't have many nice things when she got there but the staff helped her out, getting her all sorts of clothes for her to wear. It was a little after she arrived that she met Andrew. Her and Andrew hit it off rather well and they have been best friends practically ever since they met. She helps him, defends him when she needs to, and often does her best to keep him from getting too stressed. And, in return, he helps her with her anger management. It's a pretty sweet relationship but part of her wants more, wishes for more. Not that she's going to tell him that any time soon.
